Black Lights met me in Manchester music and culture venue Soup Kitchen. They were interested in me taking on art direction of their new EP. We didn't have any ideas and the deadline was pretty uncompromising. Jamie says to me, "Four Walls came from the idea of something you love and get very passionate about, in our case music, eventually trapping you and giving you a nasty sense of oppression.
Trust me, I get it. When you love something enough to call it your passion, it can very quickly start to suffocate you.
So I pulled a crappy pen from my bag and drew one of the doodled boxes in the way I would on my old maths excercise books at school. "That's it," the band start nodding and catching each other's eyes, almost scared to commit to such a simple solution. Simplicty can be terrible, or it can be genius. I think this one works. We all did at least, but you call it how you see it...
